Ed Sprunger: Why review? For the benefits so ask your child, "What is it that you don't like about review, What is upsetting? What are you thinking about when you review? What are your feelings about reviewing? Is it reviewing ALL the pieces? It not all, which ones? What is it about THOSE pieces?"Answers to these kinds of questions can be used as the raw. material to begin to form a solution past the impasse which is "I will figure out a way to make you review/There is now way you can make me review"

Other tricks:

If your child does all of their practice every day, you have pizza on Saturday

Become a review mentor to a younger student

Review for a cause like a practice a thon. Busk for a cause.

Filling out a 100 chart and actually get a small amount of money.

"popcorn" duets. with a partner. Each person plays one note and they alternate, or one phrase and alternate. That doubles as teaching about and identifying phrases.
